Not so fast Manning: Colts don’t clear Manning to resume play

Thursday night Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported that the doctor who performed the neck surgery on Colts QB Peyton Manning Dr. Robert Watkins indicated that the veteran quarterback has been cleared to play. In fact if the Colts where in the Super Bowl Dr. Watkins said that Manning would be good to go in the game.

The problem though with all of this is Dr. Watkins isn’t one of the Colts’ doctors.

Colts owner Jim Irsay stated on Twitter that…

“Peyton has not passed our physical nor has he been cleared to play for The Indianapolis Colts. Team statement coming on Friday.”

The original announcement seemed a big off considering there were reports prior that Manning could still be a year away from being cleared to play.

Manning and Irsay still have yet to sit down and discuss the quarterbacks future with the team and the $28 million dollars he’s owed this season.
