According to Dan Creel of Protagonist Soccer, some teams are apparently still waiting on earnings from this year’s Independent Cup tournament.
The annual tournament run by NISA which puts amateur clubs from around the country up against NISA professional sides wrapped up late last month. Although nothing has been confirmed regarding the reports, this wouldn’t be the first time NISA has faced similar accusations of nonpayment.
Earlier this year, the Professional Soccer Referees Association issued a statement highlighting that game officials were not being paid by the league. This is the second known instance in the past two and a half years where NISA has failed to pay referees on time.
