The NHL releases the 2016-17 All-Star Game rosters

The NHL released their 2016-17 All-Star Game rosters Tuesday which will take place which will take place on January 29th in Los Angeles.

Austin Matthews of the Maples Leafs and Patrik Laine of the Winnipeg Jets who each lead the pack among rookie goal scorers (21) were among the 40 selected for their respective squads.

And in case you forgot, like last year the 2016-17 game will be played in a 3-on-3 format consisting of two 10-minute periods. The two winners of the first round will play each other in the finals to determine the champion. Seeding for the tournament will be determined by the All-Star Competition on January 28th from the Staples Center.

The captains for each of the four teams include Connor McDavid of the Oilers for the Pacific Division, Sidney Crosby of the Penguins for the Metropolitan Division, P.K. Subban of the Predators for the Central Division and Carey Price of the Canadiens for the Atlantic Division. The coaches while comprise of Michel Therrien of the Montreal Canadiens (Atlantic), Bruce Boudreau of the Minnesota Wild (Central), John Tortorella of the Columbus Blue Jackets (Metropolitan) and Peter DeBoer of the San Jose Sharks (Pacific).
