According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFLPA will file a grievance against the League and the Panthers over the field conditions at Bank of America Stadium during Carolina’s Week 16 game against the Detroit Lions.
Lions quarterback Jared Goff was pretty vocal regarding the field conditions in the wake of Detroit’s 37-23 loss saying, “I thought the field conditions were below NFL level standard”. Goff added, “I don’t know what the deal is here, but they need to figure out a way to make the turf not feel like cement.”
Now before anyone claims Goff is just making a statement out of bad faith considering the loss, Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson told USA Today back in November regarding field conditions at Bank of America that, “It’s probably going to take all of us to stop going to practice until we get grass’’. Thompson also added a well-deserved swipe at the Panthers’ ownership group saying “I mean they make enough money off of us to maintain grass. I hate to say this, but with our last owner (Jerry Richardson) we had grass. …Listen to your players. We want grass.’’
