NFL Week 1: Dorf and Downtown pick’em all

Luke Keuchly

Each week Adam “Dorf” Waltersdorf and “Downtown” Russell Brown will pick every game of the NFL schedule against the spread. They will be joined each week by a different member of the Majors Sports Network crew who will select the game as well.

This week’s guest picker is TMSNX President Adam “Pudge” Hernandez.

Thursday, September 10th

Steelers WR Antonio Brown

Pittsburgh Steelers @ New England Patriots

Dorf

New England and the over

Tom Brady is pissed off and will take it out on the Steelers.

Downtown

Steelers and the Under

Brady is rusty and the Steelers are missing their best offensive weapon.

Pudge

Patriots and the over.

With DeflateGate in the rear view mirror (probably), Brady goes off on a rusted steel curtain.

**These picks were recorded before the game despite not debuting until after.

Sunday, September 13th: Early Games

Indianapolis Colts @ Buffalo Bills

Dorf

Colts and the over.

I don’t think the game will be close. Tyrod Taylor is not going to be good and the Bills will be in the running for the first overall pick.

Downtown

Colts and the over.

The Bills have a great young defense but I question their choice of Tyrod Taylor at quarterback. I don’t question Andrew Luck and the Colts.

Pudge

Colts and the over

The have a defense but no quarterback. Andrew Luck gets a quick start to the season.

Cleveland Browns @ New York Jets

Dorf

Browns and the under.

This game is going to be a battle of bad and worse. The Browns will win it because their running game is slightly better, but not by much.

Downtown

Jets and the under.

The Browns run defense is going to be awful so start Chris Ivory in fantasy football and be prepared to see the Browns take a trip to Revis Island.

Pudge

Jets and the under.

Despite both teams being terrible, the Jets have better playmakers to squeeze out a win at home.

Carolina Panthers @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Dorf

Panthers and the under.

The Panthers will win in a bloodbath. Although the Panthers don’t have much of an outside threat for Cam Newton to throw to, they will just jam the ball down Jacksonville’s throat.

Downtown

Jaguars and the under.

I like what I’ve seen from Blake Bortles, especially with a healthy Allen Robinson in the red zone. Their run game won’t be useless like it was last year thanks to rookie T.J. Yeldon.

Pudge

Carolina and the under.

Even without Benjamin Cam Newton finds a way to make it work against a Jaguars defense with plenty of question marks.

Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears

Dorf

Packers and the Over.

There is a good chance that the Packers score 49 points by themselves. Chicago is that bad.

Downtown

Packers and the under.

Aaron Rodgers > Jay Cutler

Pudge

Packers and the over.

We’ll be seeing Jay Cutler face early in this one.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Houston Texans

Dorf

Chiefs and the over.

That’s a very challenging over/under to predict because neither team’s offense is scary but both feature damn good defenses. This game will be boring to the casual fan, but to us hardcore fans, we’ll get a lot of fun and excitement out of it.

Downtown

Texans and the under.

Both teams lack the offensive firepower to outscore each other so this will be about who has the better defense.

Pudge

Chiefs and the under.

This will be a low scoring affair between two very good defenses. I like what Kansas City has to offer more though on the offensive side of the ball which will propel them to an opening weekend road victory.

Miami Dolphins @ Washington Redskins

Dorf

Dolphins and the over.

How is Miami only a 3.5 point favorite? They are going to take the Redskins to pound town.

Downtown

Dolphins and the under.

I think the Redskins might get ran right over by the Dolphins. They’re a pretty solid team and should have an easy win, especially as 3.5 point favorites. No brainer.

Pudge

Dolphins and the under.

The Redskins were in trouble after week one of the preseason. I’m still not sold on Tannehill putting up huge numbers though.

Seattle Seahawks @ St. Louis Rams

Dorf

Seahawks and the over.

I don’t think very highly of the Rams but the Seahawks won’t be as good as last year but will be good enough to beat the Rams on the road.

Downtown

Seahawks and the under.

Eeeeek this one is tough as I don’t see the Rams scoring a lot of points but I don’t see the Seahawks needing to score a lot of points either.

Pudge

Seahawks and the over.

The Rams are going to be improved but the Seahawks are still going to feature a high powered defense. Enough to nab a road win in St. Louis.

Sunday, September 13th: Afternoon Games

Lions WR Golden Tate

Detroit Lions @ San Diego Chargers

Dorf

Chargers and the over.

Detroit is my team but I don’t think they can go across the country and win. It just doesn’t happen for the Lions ever and this year won’t change that record.

Downtown

Lions and the over

The Chargers are playing without Antonio Gates and Keenan Allen fell off last year. It will be interesting but if I had to pick an offense, give me Detroit.

Pudge

Lions and the over

Detroit has all their offensive pieces ready to go while the Chargers will be missing Antonio Gates.

New Orleans Saints @ Arizona Cardinals

Dorf

Cardinals and the over.

I think Arizona will surprise and challenge Seattle for the NFC West division title. New Orleans won’t even slow them down.

Downtown

Cardinals and the over.

This game is going to go back and forth but with the Cardinals being at home, I’ll chose them. Especially, with a spread so close.

Pudge

Cardinals and the under.

Despite having Drew Brees, the Saints will have trouble putting up points this season.

Baltimore Ravens @ Denver Broncos

Dorf

Baltimore and the over.

Denver isn’t going to be good this year. Baltimore is going to be pretty good as many of the national pundits are selecting them to go to the Super Bowl.

Downtown

Broncos and the over.

Without Joe Flacco having someone to throw the deep ball too, I find it hard for them to win. I like the Broncos at home, especially if they’re running the ball heavily.

Pudge

Baltimore and the over.

Denver gets the win but these two teams give us an early season classic.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Oakland Raiders

Dorf

Cincinnati and the under

The Raiders are going to be god awful. The Bengals offense will be good but not elite that’s why they will get the victory but not go over 43.5.

Downtown

Bengals and the over.

Give me the Bengals as I find it hard for anyone in Oakland to stop Jeremy Hill or A.J. Green.

Pudge

Bengals and the over.

The Raiders will be better but the Bengals just have too many options on offense.

Tennessee Titans @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Dorf

Titans and the under.

I think Marcus Mariota is going to be much better player than Famous Jameis and the will win their first match-up as pros.

Downtown

Titans and the over.

Which rookie QB do I chose?

Pudge

Buccaneers and the under.

Mariota is going to be a disaster in the NFL.

New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys

Dorf

Cowboys and the over.

Dallas is going to beat the bumbling Giants up and down the field as much as it pains me to say. I hate the Cowboys with a passion and that spread is huge, but not enough to keep me from selecting them.

Downtown

Cowboys and the under

Cowboys won’t need to have a great running game yet. I like what Romo has with Witten and Dez.

Pudge

Cowboys  and the under.

I have a feeling the Giants are in for a very long season.

Monday, September 14th

Eagles QB Sam Bradford

Philadelphia Eagles @ Atlanta Falcons

Dorf

Eagles and under

Chip Kelly will start his football world domination with his first victory with Sam Bradford leading the charge. Atlanta will be better than they were in 2014, but still not good enough defensively to hold down the Eagles offense.

Downtown

Eagles and the under.

I’ve been bragging about Sam Bradford and the Eagles so let’s roll with them.

Pudge

Eagles and the over

Lots of offense to go around in this one. Chip Kelly is an offensive mastermind though which will have the Eagles flying high all season.

Minnesota Vikings @ San Francisco 49ers

Dorf

Vikings and the under.

San Francisco may struggle to score 15 points per game on the year and the Vikings offense is going to be better than average. Let the Adrian Peterson comeback tour commence as he pops a couple of TD’s early to lead the Vikings to a win.

Downtown

Vikings and the over.

No way would I pick the 49ers, even if they were home. I like the Vikings.

Pudge

Vikings and the under.

Teddy Bridgewater will finally have a running game behind him. Oh yeah and that running game comes via Adrian Peterson.
