Major League Baseball has released an official statement confirming that Miguel Cabrera has indeed agreed to enter into a treatment program for his problems with alcohol, and understands that any future incidents involving alcohol could bring upon more serious consequences.
According to baseballs executive vice president of labor relations, Rob Manfred, Cabrera has been evaluated by members of a treatment board operated by the Commissioner’s office, and that he has been cooperative in the process.
The treatment board recommended a “multifaceted professionally administered program” that will include supervision when necessary.
Cabrera has issued a statement saying that he will report to spring training, while resuming his treatment and playing for the Detroit Tigers.
