Even though the Lions had a bye week this past weekend, the team was still hard at work preparing themselves for the second half of the season. During the downtime, the Lions hosted workouts consisting of a small contingent of free agent players. One of these players, former Pro Bowl guard Leonard Davis, they ended up signing to a contract to boost an offensive line that has been struggling in recent weeks.
But will the Davis signing be the only one for the Lions?
Among the other players that were working out were former Lions running backs in Aaron Brown and Kevin Smith.
Now given the concussion Jahvid Best and the brain tumor discovered by doctors in Jerome Harrison, it seems possible that the Lions could add guys like Brown and Smith down the road.
Here is what ESPN NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert has to say on the situation…
“The Lions released Smith and Brown over the summer. But given the uncertain future of starter Jahvid Best (concussion) and the brain tumor of Jerome Harrison, it was worth checking in on the conditioning of two running backs who wouldn’t need time to learn the Lions’ system if needed.”
