Friday, the University of Michigan unveiled their throwback uniforms which they will wear during their September 10th matchup against Notre Dame under the light’s of Michigan Stadium.
Like Michigan, Notre Dame will also wear a throwback jersey for the game. Both teams are endorsed by Adidas and it was Adidads who designed the throwbacks.
“They took pictures going back over many years, many decades and many teams, and they really came up with a legacy uniform that really captures the legacy of Michigan football,” Brandon said of the design. “It takes elements of a lot of different teams over the years and puts them together in a way that is pretty creative.
“If you looked at the pictures at Schembechler Hall, all the teams going back 131 years, you see the evolution of the uniform. What we tried to do is capture bits and pieces from the ’50s from all the way back to the ’20s and even the late 1800s. I think adidas did a terrific job.”
Michigan head coach Brady Hoke said the jerseys are another reason to get excited for this match up against Notre Dame.
“It’s going to be an exciting night — it’s always exciting to play Notre Dame, but it will be the first night game with the retro-look uniforms that’s going to look really terrific.”
