Michigan got some bad news Saturday when Caleb Stacey (Cincinnati, Oh./Oak Hills) announced that he would retract his verbal commitment to the Wolverines to play with his hometown Bearcats.
What’s unfortunate for Michigan is they were hoping that Stacey could provide some depth during an upcoming season in which they will be without graduating senior David Molk.
Senior Rocko Khoury is expected to be the starting center however it’s become more and more vital that Michigan starts to develop his heir apparent.
Currently Brady Hoke’s squad has four options among its current crop of offensive line targets with only one is expected to play center.
“…(Alex) Kozan is a sure bet to play on the inside at the next level,” Tim Sullivan of TheWolverine.com wrote. “The 6-4, 295-pound prospect says that Michigan likes him at center (so he’d be the most direct replacement for Stacey)…He plans to decide later this week between Iowa, Auburn, and Michigan.”
Michigan is still pursuing three other offensive lineman in Josh Garnett (Puyallup, Wash./Puyallup), Jordan Diamond (Chicago) and Alex Kozan (Highlands Ranch, Col./Valor Christian). With Caleb Stacey pulling back his verbal commitment, the Wolverines could end up looking to add two or maybe even all three of these potential offensive line recruits.
