Michigan State did what they needed to do last week on the road, and that was beating the Iowa Hawkeyes putting themselves in firm control of the Legends Division title.
This week the Spartans need to stay the course as they welcome in the Indiana Hoosiers who although aren’t a great team can’t be overlooked. I’m sure we all can remember the game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers a couple of weeks ago that turned into an unnecessary nail bitter.
Aside from the possibility of clinching the Legends Division today with a Nebraska loss to Michigan, the Spartans should be playing with plenty of emotion on Senior Day from Spartan Stadium.
Indiana Player to Watch: Tre Roberson, QB
It’s been a tough year for the Hoosiers however one of their bright spots has been freshman QB Tre Roberson. So far this season he is second on the team in rushing with 397 yards and is completing 58.1 percent of his passes.
With his ground capabilities Roberson has the potential to be very elusive. Against Northwestern he rushed for 121 yards and 1 TD but finished 14-for-26 for 169 yards and a TD through the air.
Michigan State player to Watch: Le’Veon Bell, RB
In the Big Ten, Indiana ranks last in the Big Ten in total defense (452.6 yards) and rushing defense (245.8 yards). Because of that the Michigan State running game, specifically Le’Veon Bell should have a very busy and big day. Last week Bell had a total of 112 yards on the ground and 1 TD.
Set the tone early
Michigan State needs to enter this game today and set the tone early. The Legends Division race is not over yet and the Spartans still have plenty to play for in this game. Michigan State can’t let Indiana get any confidence during today’s game and would be better off burying them early.
Predictions
The odds are heavily stacked in Michigan State’s favor in this one. Given that its senior day and Michigan State could clinch the Legends Division with a win, the Spartans roll. Michigan State wins 42-10.
