In his latest mailbag, WolverinesNation’s Tom VanHaaren believes that recruiting outside the State of Michigan is crucial for the Wolverines and that they may soon get good news concerning a top west coast prospect.
“It’s very important, because you’re not going to fill your whole class with Midwest prospects. The bigger states such as California, Texas and Florida produce some of the top talent year after year. It’s important to go after those kids because you never know what could happen. A great example is wide receiver Jordan Payton (Westlake Village, Calif./Oaks Christian), who was committed to USC but is now heavily considering Michigan after decommitting from the Trojans. Payton has said that his decision could come as early as Tuesday, which could be in Michigan’s favor.”
