Michigan looking to add CC running back Wyatt Shallman

Michigan will look to add 6-foot-3, 251 pound junior running-back Wyatt Shallman out of Catholic Central.

Wyatt is expected to be a physical force at tailback who can power the ball up the middle. Wyatt does add some speed to his game as well running a 4.7 40-yard dash, has a 38-inch vertical and a shuttle time of 4.1 seconds. This is according to Sam Webb of the Detroit News.

With his outstanding athletic ability, Michigan isn’t the only college taking notice.

“All three of my offers are for tailback,” Shallman stated. “Michigan is looking at me as a pure tailback. Cincinnati and Syracuse are looking at me as a hybrid tailback, but also as a wide receiver where I can split out and kind of do the multiple purpose thing. I’m just trying to do everything.”

In addition to tailback, Catholic Central also took advantage of Shallman’s size by lining him up at defensive tackle. This upcoming season Shallman is expected to take on the dual roles again lining up at tailback and defensive end. Webb believes that his performance on the defensive side of the ball could have Shallman looking at even more offers.

“They’re seeing me playing an outside linebacker, but also a pass rush specialist,” Shallman told Scout.com. “They said I have the size, athletic ability, and speed burst to do that or even middle linebacker. They wanted me to work out (at their camp), but I didn’t because it’s right before season. I don’t want to get hurt. They said if I had worked out for the defensive coordinator, I would have definitely gotten an offer.”
