Michigan defeats Purdue behind Hardaway Jr’s 19 points

With the season Michigan has had this year so far, it’s kind of hard to believe that they haven’t gotten a road win yet.

That’s until they traveled to Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana to take on Purdue.

Tuesday night, behind Tim Hardaway Jr’s 19 points the #20 Michigan Wolverines defeated the Purdue Boilermakers 66-64. Jordan Morgan had 12 points and seven rebounds while Stu Douglass scored 12 points and Evan Smotrycz added 10 points

The victory also marks Michigan’s first win in West Lafayette since 2003, snapping a six game losing streak. Better yet though Michigan moves to 6-2 in the Big Ten and a first place tie heading into Sunday’s matchup with Ohio State in Columbus. If the Buckeyes (17-3, 5-2) can get by Penn State on Wednesday, Sunday will be a battle of first-place teams.
Against the Boilermakers, shot 54 percent from the field and outrebounded Purdue 30-23.
Lewis Jackson scored 17 points and Robbie Hummel added 16 for the Boilermakers (14-7, 4-4). However Hummel missed a three pointer in the final seconds of the game that would’ve given Purdue the win.
The once dominant Boilermakers at home are coming off a 83-58 loss to No. 10 Michigan State and have since lost two of their past three games at home after a 26 game home winning streak.
