Michigan fought and clawed their way back Thursday night against Indiana but in the end it just wasn’t good enough.
In a hostile environment the 16th ranked Wolverines fell to the 12th ranked Hoosiers 73-71 from Assembly Hall.
“I like our team and I like coaching our team, but I never believed we were going to go 18-0 in the Big Ten,” Michigan coach John Beilein said after the loss. “Nobody’s going to (do that). We’ve got to make sure we learn from this.
“It’s disappointing, but it’s also part of life right now in this league.”
This latest loss snaps Michigan’s seven game winning streak and drops the Wolverines to 12-3 and 2-1 in the Big Ten. They are also 0-2 on the road and continue to struggle in Bloomington as they are 2-22.
Tim Hardaway Jr led the way for Michigan scorers as he was able to get 19 points, while Jordan Morgan finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. Freshman guard Trey Burke added 10 points to go along with eight assists and seven rebounds. However Burke wasn’t very efficient from the field going 4-for-15 .
Michigan returns to the court Sunday when it hosts Wisconsin at 1:30PM ET.
