Mets reliever Jenrry Mejia became one of the dumbest players to ever play in Major League Baseball.
Friday afternoon Rob Manfred and the MLB dished out their first ever lifetime ban over performance enhancing drugs to Jenrry Mejia who tested positive for PEDs for the third time. According to reports, Mejia tested positive for Boldenone – an anabolic steroid less than a year after testing positive for a banned substance last July. Mejia first tested positive for PEDs at the start of the 2015 season receiving an 80-day ban before playing a handful of games once reinstated.

The Mets issued the following statement regarding Mejia’s ban:
We were deeply disappointed to hear that Jenrry has again violated Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. We fully support MLB’s policy toward eliminating performance-enhancing substances from the sport. As per the Joint Drug Program, we will have no further comment on this suspension.
Mejia was actually serving a 162-game suspension upon his positive test. However in typical Mets fashion the team tendered Mejia a contract a contract in hopes that he could return and help solidify the back-end of the bullpen.
Despite the lifetime ban, Mejia could apply for reinstatement after one year. However if he’s eligible to return Mejia will have to sit out for two additional seasons meaning the 26-year old pitcher will be approaching 30 once he can return.
