Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson has turned a lot of heads as a college quarterback during his time in Ann Arbor.
He has been labeled as one of the most exciting and elusive players to watch at the quarterback position.
However, ESPN Draft guru Mel Kiper, Jr. is taking things to the next level in terms of the Denard Robinson hype.
According to the Detroit Free Pressβ Dave Birkett (via Twitter) Kiper seeβs Robinson as a No. 2 or No.1 wide receiverβ¦
Mel Kiper on Denard Robinsonβs draft stock: βHeβs either the No. 2 or No.1 most highly rated WR option & he hasnt even played the positionβ
Robinson recently stated that he would return to Michigan for his senior season after filing paper work with the NFL Draft Advisory Board so itβs assumed Kiper wasnβt referring to this yearβs draft.
Now I donβt believe there is any question whether or not Robinson has a place in the NFL. Weβve seen what he can do when the ball is in his hands which is certainly foreseeable to see him as a return man, running back or even a slot receiver. NFLDraftScout.com had Robinson rated as the fourth best running back heading into the 2013 draft. Again this isnβt something totally outlandish considering Robinsonβs 1,176 yards rushing this season and his 1,702 in 2010.
However, rating him a top 2 wide receiver, when he is a slot receiver at best isnβt just a stretch, itβs just plain dumb.
