The Lions’ biggest star on offense looks prepared to do whatever it takes to keep their biggest star on defense in Detroit.

According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Calvin Johnson said “I’ll do whatever I got to do,” in order to keep Ndamukong Suh in a Lions uniform come next season.

The 28-year-old Suh led the Lions with 8.5 sacks in 2014 and was named an All-Pro for the third time in his career. He’s scheduled to become a free agent on March 10th when his rookie contract runs out however the Lions have made it clear that they’re biggest priority this offseason is bringing Suh back next year. And the Lions are prepared to do that even if it means signing Suh to a big time long-term deal, using the franchise tag on him which could cost the team in upwards of $26.9 million or perhaps parting with Calvin Johnson which would be truly ironic in this case.

“I think it’s important for you guys to know that we want him (Suh) back and we are willing to franchise him, transition him, whatever,” Mayhew said earlier this month.
