Fast foward to the alleged Pistons boycott when several players including Tayshaun Prince, Austin Daye, Chris Wilcox and Rodney Stuckey all were no shows for a morning shoot around before a road game against the 76ers. That night each player that missed the shoot around didn’t play in the game until the following game when some not all were inserted back into the lineup.
One of those players that missed the shoot around was veteran guard Tracy McGrady. His reason for missing the shoot around was he had a headache. The difference between McGrady and the rest of the players who missed the shoot around is they’ve played in a game since then and McGrady hasn’t (except for Ben Wallace who is still tending to family matters).
So is McGrady the new occupant in the John Kuester doghouse? Chris Iott of Mlive.com points this out in his latest article.
For McGrady you would think that he would be one of the last players to be involved in any type of boycott or setting up shop in the head coaches doghouse. He was a corpse coming into Detroit this season and in some way you have to credit John Kuester for McGrady having the year he has had this year. Not to mention Joe Dumars doesn’t deserve this from McGrady since Dumars is the guy that gave McGrady another chance to play.
I don’t want it to sound like I’m overly defending Kuester or Dumars for what has happened this season and the McGrady situation is included in that. McGrady however is in no position (like the rest of the players) to be acting like they are entitled to anything.
