“It’s out of my control, man,” said McGrady, who will be a free agent this summer. “I can’t do anything. When the coach says he puts the guys out there he wants to play, I don’t really like it. But it is what it is.
“I can’t do anything about it but come in here and practice and wait until I get my number called. It’s frustrating. It’s really frustrating.”
McGrady by most accounts was one of the few bright spots for the Pistons this season. After taking a chance on him during the offseason, McGrady has come in, been a leader and has shown some flashes of the past in terms of his scoring ability. This was all up until February 25th during the alleged player boycott in Philadelphia that McGrady may have been part of.
McGrady, who still maintains that he had a headache during the February 25th shoot around and that he hopes he isn’t being singled out in the matter.
“I hope not. I hope I’m not singled out like that,” he said. “I beg that it’s not that, because that wouldn’t be right. Not at all.”
Kuester said it’s just a numbers game, and no one is being singled out.
“I want to play,” McGrady said. “And the end of the day, I’m a competitor, and I want to play. I feel I can help us win games, but it is what is. I’m not going to lose any sleep.
“I’m just going to continue to work, and whatever happens these remaining 18 games will happen.”
