Matt Patricia

After flaming out as a head coach with the Lions, Matt Patricia will rejoin the Patriots as an assistant to the coaching staff sources have told The Boston Globe’s, Jim McBride.

According to Ian Rapoport, a big part of Patricia’s role with the Pats will be to evaluating personnel.

Patricia had served as an assistant offensive line coach, linebackers coach, safeties coach, and defensive coordinator for New England at various points between 2004 and 2017 before being hired away by the Detroit Lions. It was in the Motor City, however, where Patricia quickly fell out of favor with the players finishing with a 13-29-1 record that resulted in himself and general manager Bob Quinn getting the ax.

This led to collective celebrations across the league as former Lions players rejoiced over Patricia getting booted from Detroit.
