The Majors LIVE 267: Is it time to forgo the National Anthem at sporting events?

National Anthem

Catch Adam Hernandez, Dorf and Shawn Bell LIVE every Monday night at 8PM ET for The Majors LIVE! on TMSNX Radio THEMAJORS.NET.

In light of the recent protests notably in the NFL during the National Anthem, is it maybe time to forgo performing the National Anthem prior to all sporting events (h/t Jeff Riger for the topic). With that in mind, the National Anthem or Pledge of Allegiance rarely anymore gets recited in schools, doesn’t happen before other live events or before the regular every day person goes to work so why continue it before those sporting events? Should this stage for protest be eliminated? Or is the stage and/or the National Anthem’s limited use exactly why Leagues, professional, college or otherwise need to keep this tradition going?

Also, with all the ridicule towards Colin Kaepernick and the other players who chose to kneel or raise a fist during the National Anthem this past weekend, is there a hypocrisy occurring among their biggest critics?
