Tyrann Mathieu, also known as the Honey Badger was dismissed from the LSU football team for violating team rules. Les Miles announced the move Friday morning after it’s believed that Mathieu failed another drug test. Mathiew was suspended back in October for a failed drug test and according to ESPN’s Joe Schad, Mathieu was rumored to be looking for a new school to play at prior.
LSU who is the preseason No. 1 in the country already suffered a big loss in their secondary when Maurice Claiborne made the jump to the NFL. The loss of the Honey Badger though is probably more devastating given he’s arguably the best player in all of college football.
With Mathieu gone the LSU secondary immediately became very young. Miles may be forced into starting redshirt freshmen Jalen Collins or David Jenkins while the front four is still pretty stacked with future pros like DEs Sam Montgomery and Barkevious Mingo.
No word yet on where Matheiu could end up but the very talented corner was projected to be a late first round pick once he declared himself eligible for the NFL Draft.
