Saturday afternoon from Spartan Stadium, Michigan State accomplished a feet that hasnโt been done by the team since the 1962 season. That feet was beating instate rival Michigan four straight after todayโs 28-14 victory.
For some players like Michigan State senior defensive tackle Jerel Worthy, a loss to Michigan is something that has never happened during his tenure with the Spartans.
โA clean sweep!โ Worthy yelled.
Michigan State QB Kirk Cousins, wasnโt great in the game, but he did everything necessary to get his team the win. The fifth year senior, Cousins was 13 of 24 for 12o yards and 2 TDs.
Cousins also becomes the first MSU QB to win three straight over Michigan.
โFor the rest of our life, we can walk the streets of Michigan,โ quarterback Kirk Cousins said.
Michigan State receiver Keshawn Martin scored twice in the third quarter while State was able to hold Michigan QB Denard Robinson to only 123 yards through the air and 42 yards on the ground.
Michigan now hasnโt won in this series since former Wolverine running back Mike Hart referred to Michigan State as โlittle brotherโ and Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio fired back by saying Michigan needs to โcheck themselvesโ.
The question now is despite the 34-23-2 record Michigan holds in the series, can Michigan fans justifiably refer to Michigan State as little brother? With four straight wins and a Big Ten Championship last season, Michigan State has certainly shown that โlittle brotherโ has grown up.
