The Lions will be without another one of their more effective players heading into next Sunday’s game against the Titans.
Late Monday night, the NFL announced that Jameson Williams would be suspended two games for violating the league’s Performance-Enhancing Substance policy.
The suspension marks the second time the 23-year-old has faced a multigame ban since being drafted by the Lions in the first round (12th overall) in 2022. After missing the first 11 games of his rookie season due to an ACL injury, Jamo was banned for six games the following season for violating the NFL’s gambling policy when he bet on non-NFL games in a league facility. The suspension was later reduced to four games, and Williams was reinstated in 2023.
Jamo commented on his latest suspension saying he has “no choice but to take it on the chin.” Williams also told ESPN that he’s “in good spirits just ready to get back with [my] brothers ASAP soon as possible.”
As it stands, third-year veteran Williams ranks second on the Lions in receiving yards, trailing only Amon-Ra St. Brown (361), and he also holds the second spot in touchdowns with three.
There is already speculation that Jamo might face suspension for similar reasons that led to Jimmy Garoppolo’s two-game suspension for violating the same policy.
Of course, people are going to be quick to overreact to the suspension in a similar fashion that the media was ready to bury the kid after that bullshit gambling suspension last season.
