According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Lions are reportedly set to hire Patriots director of pro scouting Bob Quinn as their new general manager.

Quinn, who apparently had the support of New England head coach Bill Belichick has been with the Patriots since 2000 originally serving as the team’s player personnel assistant. Quinn eventually emerged to his current role with the Pats back in 2012 where he had a hand in not only pro scouting but college scouting as well.

Furthermore according to Scheffer, Quinn was one of the few individuals within the front office allowed in the Patriots’ draft room which ‘reflects the level of trust he’s earned within the organization’.

In addition to Quinn the Lions also were also reportedly conducting interviews with interim GM Sheldon White, Trent Kirchner of the Seahawks and Kevin Abrams of the New York Giants.

At this point it’s unclear when the Quinn hiring will be made final and what the stipulations are regarding potentially retaining Jim Caldwell as head coach.
