The Quandre Diggs experiment at safety was apparently a success for the Detroit Lions.

After a five-game stint at the position last season, the Lions seemed to have liked what they saw from the former Texas Longhorn as Detroit signed Diggs to a three-year extension worth a reported total of $20.4 million according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

During his five games at safety Diggs racked up 22 tackles to go along with a sack, forced fumble and the first three interceptions of his career after being drafted in the sixth round out of Texas in 2015.

Ian Rapoport has also reported that the Lions will sign Patriots castoff Marquis Flowers reuniting the linebacker with his former defensive coordinator and new Detroit head coach Matt Patricia.

In terms of coverage, Flowers should be an upgrade for the Lions whose current crop of linebackers have had some problems with that particular task.
