The Detroit Lions have begun contract negotiations with defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Hutchinson, drafted No. 2 overall in 2022, has quickly established himself as one of the NFL’s top young pass rushers, recording 21 sacks in his first two seasons. The Lions view him as a cornerstone of their defense and are expected to work toward a long-term extension that would place him among the league’s highest-paid edge rushers.

While talks are still in the early stages, both sides appear motivated. Hutchinson has maintained that his focus remains on football, leaving the business side to his representatives.

The negotiations come as Detroit continues to build a roster capable of sustained success, with Hutchinson central to those plans.
