I’m assuming Lions head coach Matt Patricia is going to brush off the National Anthem questions as long as he possibly can.
Via the Detroit Free Press:
“I addressed the anthem issue before. The league is working on a policy there,” Patricia said. “They issued a policy, and we’re talking about it internally here. That’s something we’ll keep in here.”
Patricia was asked to be clear if he will let his players stand or sit, and again brushed off the question.
“Again, I talked about there is a policy by the league and we’ll address all that when it comes through,” Patricia said.
Despite not saying much, Patricia or the Lions didn’t seem to be committed one way or the other when it came to the fake patriotism the NFL is trying to inflict by having players stay in the locker room or be forced to stand for the National Anthem.
As things stand right now (no pun) the NFLPA and League are continuing to hammer out a deal when it comes to the National Anthem. Meanwhile owners like Jerry Jones and Stephen Ross have for all intents and purposes bowed out to public pressure and will force their players to stand during the Anthem.
Way to go Jerry. This is what the league should do! https://t.co/yEP1jK57xi
