Coming off the most challenging Sunday of the season, Lions head coach Dan Campbell gave fans plenty to get reinvigorated about during his weekly appearance on 97.1. In addition, Lions’ defense end Aidan Hutchinson also raised more eyebrows during an appearance on The Squeeze podcast hosted by Lions superfan Taylor Lautner. During the appearance, Hutchinson talked about being “on track” to play in the Super Bowl for the Lions despite everything that happened this past Sunday and his challenges recovering from a broken leg suffered earlier in the season.

“I’m on track for my goal for returning for the Super Bowl,” Hutchinson said. “So I keep telling all the boys when I see them in the facility. I’m like, ‘You guys have just got to get there, and I promise you I’m going to be back.’

“I tell people that, and my mom was like—I remember we were talking yesterday, and she’s like, ‘But Aidan, what if you don’t get back? What if you can’t?’ I was like, ‘There’s no other way.’”

Before getting injured in Dallas, Hutchinson led the NFL in sacks (7.5) and PFF pressures (45) in just five games played, so getting him back at any point during the season is a massive boost. Especially given Marcus Davenport, Kyle Peko, Mekhi Wingo, Derrick Barnes, Malcolm Rodriguez, and Carlton Davis are all expected to be shelved for the remainder of the season (including the playoffs) for the Lions.
