Lions acquire RB Ronnie Brown from the Eagles

According to ProFootballTalk.com and ESPN, the Lions have dealt a 7th round draft pick in 2013 and running back Jerome Harrison to the Philadelphia Eagles for running back Ronnie Brown.

Brown’s time with the Vince Young proclaimed “dream team” in Philadelphia didn’t last long.

After signing a one-year contract in the offseason, Brown didn’t factor much into the Eagles offense accumulating only 38 yards on 13 carries.

It seemed as though a trade was imminent for the Lions after RB Jahvid Best suffered his second concussion of the season last week. In terms of Browns role with the Lions, it would seem that he would get first team reps with RB Maurice Morris. Once Best is available to go again, Brown may be that power back the Lions were looking for after the season ending injury to Mikel Leshoure during training camp.

Bottom line is this is a very good move for the Lions. Harrison wasn’t a factor in the Lions’ offense and a 7th round pick in 2013 is really an after thought. Lions fans should probably concern themselves more with the health of Best.
