The New York Rangers were on the wrong side of history Friday night. After chasing Ben Bishop in Game 6, the Tampa Bay goaltender bounced back to shut out the Blue Shirts 2-0 at MSG handing New York their first game seven home loss in franchise history.
Alex Killorn got the scoring started early in the third period to break the 0-0 stalemate using a screen and a deflection to beat Henrik Lundqvist.
Ondrej Palat delivered the dagger to the Rangers’ Stanley Cup hopes beating Lundqvist glove side to seal the deal.
Bishop ended up making 22 saves to send the Lighting to their second Stanley Cup Finals in franchise history and their first since winning it all back in 2004.
Meanwhile after the game Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault said that captain Ryan McDonagh played with a broken foot. He totaled 17:33 minutes of ice time tonight.
