The 2019 NFL Draft just got a hell of a lot more interesting.

Thats because Monday former Oklahoma quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray announced on Twitter that he’s entering his name into the 2019 NFL Draft.

Wow…

Murray’s decision to do this throws a wrench not only into the plans of the Oakland Athletics who drafted Murray ninth overall in 2018, but it also has NFL front offices in need of a QB scrambling ahead of this spring’s Draft. Sure Murray may be a no doubt first round pick for teams like the Raiders or Jacksonville Jaguars who sit within the top 10 of the first round.

However there’s without a doubt going to be a fight for influence over Murray’s ultimate decision to play either baseball or football in the coming months.

With that in mind it should be noted that Murray’s announcement today does in no way mean he’s not playing baseball for the Athletics. What this does though is force the A’s back to the bargaining table to figure out what kind of money it’ll take to keep Murray’s eyes focused on baseball. Meanwhile NFL teams will have a big time decision to make if Murray decides not to pull out of the NFL Draft within the next 72 hours. Do they draft a guy who has plenty of talent but could very well spurn them to go back to the baseball field? And if so how high of a pick do they spend on him?

Anyways if Murray is looking for any advice on his final decision, NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders who played both football and in the MLB weighed in on what he thought he Heisman winner should do…

“If I was in his shoes, I’m picking up the baseball bat and I’m not looking back,” Sanders told ESPN.
