Wondering where the Kerry Wood free agency buzz is? Probably not, but the general feeling behind the lack of interest in the veteran reliever is because of Wood’s desire to return to the Cubs next season.
A source, writes Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune, says that team president Theo Epstein has had preliminary talks with Wood who is “expected to return.”
If Theo Epstein does opt to get Wood in the fold, the Cubs could have a nice back end of the rotation with Wood setting up closer Carlos Marmol.
