The Kansas Jayhawks probably missed out on a second consecutive season with the no. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
This afternoon, the No. 1 seed in the Big XII fell to TCU 85-82 in their respective conference tournament. The loss will probably guarantee either defending champion Villanova or North Carolina the top spot in The Dance but I guess anything can happen come selection Sunday.
Frank Mason III sunk 29 points for Kansas however Desmond Bane was able to hit vital free throws with seconds remaining after a foul from Svi Mykhailiuk to secure the win for the Horned Frogs.
TCU will still have some work to do when it comes to getting into the NCAA Tournament. The Horned Frogs finished 19-14 in the regular season but put up a 6-12 record in the Big XII. They’re more than likely NIT bound however they could find themselves dancing if they’re able to pull off a couple more victories in their conference tournament.
For Kansas, time off may be beneficial. They’ll likely earn a one-seed in whatever region they’re placed but this extra time off the court may be best suited to fine tune that defense before the big tournament begins.
