Jordan Spieth became the youngest American to win The Open Championship today overcoming a bogey on 13 with one of the greatest five-hole finishes in the Tournament’s history.

Finishing 12-under with a 69 in the final round, Spieth looked as though his day was ready to fall apart during his approach on 13 when his tee-off veered onto the driving range. After spending nearly 20 minutes searching and getting his shot in line, the 23-year-old American was able to salvage a bogey but lost the lead to Matt Kuchar heading into the final stretch of the Tournament.
However Spieth’ troubles on 13 helped him flip the switch for the final five.
Spieth ended up with a birdie on 14 before sinking a nasty 40-foot eagle on 15 and another birdie on 18.
Matt Kuchar, searching for his first major kept things close with a birdie on 15 but his approach on 18 hit a bunker which seal the deal for Spieth.
Despite hitting the bunker on the final hole, Kuchar played about as well as anyone could, he just didn’t have any answers for Spieth’s masterful finish.
