Plaxico Burress is staying in New York, just not with the Giants.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter has Tweeted that the Jets will sign Plaxico Burress to a 1-year deal worth around $3 million. The Jets beat out the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers for the services of Burress who hasn’t played since 2008 when he shot himself in the leg and was sent to prison for two years.
It makes you wonder if the Giants ever had a chance since Nnamdi Asomugha signed with their NFC East rival the Philadelphia Eagles.
In his last full season with the Giants, Plaxico caught 70 balls for over a thousand yards and 12 touchdowns.
The Jets hope that the tandem of Santonio Holmes and Burress is enough for QB Mark Sanchez.
With the signing of Burress, the Jets have more than likely cut ties with Braylon Edwards.
