Was the reason why New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith got his face rearranged by IK Enemkpali due to an unpaid debt? That seems to be the case if you ask former Jets QB Boomer Esiason.
Bottom line if you owe somebody money pay your debt. Don't be surprised if you get punched in the face if you don't.

Details were sketchy to begin with regarding why Smith was ‘sucker punched’ by Enemkpali which resulted in a broken jaw for Smith and 6-10 week recovery period while he gets surgery. Not to mention Enemkpali getting his outright release from the team. However Esiason’s debt theory would seem to support the Todd Bowles claim of the altercation having nothing to do with football.
I guess the Jets are all lucky it only involved Enemkpali’s fist to Smith’s suck hole. Can anyone remember the Gilbert Arenas – Javaris Crittenton incident in the Washington Wizards locker room? Guns were involved there to resolve a debt.
