Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky has been sentenced to 30-60 years in prison for child sex abuse according to Bloomberg News and Reuters.
Back in June, Sandusky was convicted of 45 of a possible 48 counts of sexual abuse and it was assumed then that he would spend the rest of his life in prison.
At 68 years of age the minimal 30 year sentence is essentially life, especially in the State of Pennsylvania where inmates often serve far beyond their minimum sentencing.
“Realistically, even if Jerry was to survive the 30 years, he won’t be released,” said Sandusky’s own attorney, Joe Amendola.
And to further haunt his victims and further prove (like we needed more) how truly sick, twisted, evil and cowardly he his, Sandusky delivered a 15 minute speech the way HE wanted. The attention once again solely on him, without a courtroom full of jurors or as Dan Wetzel of Yahoo! Sports puts itwithout feeling the wrath of deputy attorney general Joseph McGettigan on cross-examination.
“I look at those walls and I see light,” Sandusky joyously declared. “I see letters of support, I see great memories. I see family and friends. I see those who overcame big obstacles.”
“I see my throwing thousands of kids up in the air, hundreds of water balloon battles, happy times, people laughing with us,” Sandusky said. “I see kids laughing and playing, and I see a loveable dog licking their face.”
No remorse and still pathetically defiant till the end. And now he has Hell to look forward too.
