Detroit

Last season, the Pistons didn’t earn their 14th and final win of an embarrassing 2023-24 campaign until April 12 when they managed to beat the Mavericks by double figures 107-89. It was also the second time all season that the Pistons allowed less than 90 points during the season and one of the small handfuls of times they’d allow less than 100.

Fast forward to last night when Jaden Ivey hit the rare four-point play in the final seconds of the fourth to give Detroit a 114-113 win over the Sacramento Kings.

Simply stated last night’s win was a game the Pistons would’ve lost last season. Not only was it their third straight victory, something they never managed to do under Monty Williams, but the Pistons were down 16 to start the fourth and as much as 10 with around three minutes left in the game.

And yes, a 14-17 record hardly means the Pistons are on their way to an NBA title, however, if the season ended today, Detroit would be heading to a play-in game as the ninth seed in the East.
