Tragedy struck the soccer world today during a Serie B match between Livorno and Pescara, when Livorno midfielder Piermario Morosini suffered an apparent heart attack on the field during the first half.
The 25-year-old Morosini had been on loan from Italy’s Serie A division and died a short time later.
In the video below you can see Morosini stumbling back on defense before collapsing on the field. During this time he was still conscious and given medical attention prior to being loaded onto an ambulance.
Due to the tragedy all Italian soccer has been postponed for the weekend. Out thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and teammates of Morosini.
