Team Canada suffered a big loss when they lost forward John Tavares to a torn MCL and meniscus, an injury that will keep him out for the remainder of the Olympics.
However the loss for his NHL team, the New York Islanders was catastrophic since it also means he’ll be gone for the rest of the year.
Isles GM Garth Snow didn’t mince words either when conveying his disgust for the IOC and IIHF:
#Isles GM Garth Snow spitting mad over Tavares' Olympic injury: "Are the IIHF or IOC going to reimburse our season ticket holders now?"

More Snow: "It's a joke. They want all the benefits from NHL players in Olympics and don't want to pay when our best player gets hurt."

Snow: "It wouldn't matter if we were 10 points up on a playoff spot or 10 points out. We lost our best player and he wasn't playing for us."

I see Snow’s point but what’s ironic is he (Snow) has done more damage to the Islanders than Tavares missing the rest of this year with that knee injury. What’s going on Rick DiPietro?
