Caitlin Clark had 21 points and nine rebounds including a vital final possession in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter as No. 1 Iowa defeated No. 3 UConn 71-69 in the Women’s Final Four from Cleveland. However, the win didn’t come without controversy as a late offensive foul call against UConn’s Aaliyah Edwards down by one and with four seconds left pretty much sealed the win for the Hawkeyes who’ll go on to play undefeated South Caroline on Sunday.

Needless to say, the moving foul against Edwards on Iowa’s Gabbie Marshall was meant with plenty of condemnation on social media while some critics continued to point out the vast inconsistencies when it comes to officiating overall in women’s basketball.

Meanwhile, Andraya Carter was pretty blunt in her opinion of the call…

Edwards, unsurprisingly thought her screen was “pretty clean”.

We’re not going to go as far as to say the game was rigged, especially considering by the letter of the rule this is probably a foul. The problem though is the consistency in which this is called but more importantly, when it was called. However, women’s college basketball got the final they most certainly wanted with the game’s biggest name Caitlin Clark going up against undefeated South Carolina. Seriously, the women’s game has never been bigger than what it is now. Not to mention, the final coming up on Sunday is going to probably be the most watched omen’s National Title Game ever.
