Boesch day-to-day with multiple injuries

Tigers outfielder Brennan Boesch is now dealing with multiple injuries that will keep him questionable as the Tigers head into a weekend series with the Minnesota Twins.

Boesch, who has been dealing with a right thumb injury is now suffering from a bicep injury due to over compensation.

Boesch was taken out of Wednesday night’s game against the Rays where he struck out in all three of his at bats.

“I just know the way I was swinging, I had no chance to contribute, so I took myself out after my third at-bat,” Boesch said. “Skipper knew something was going on early on. I think he probably wanted me to speak up a little earlier.”

Originally, Tigers manager Jim Leyland didn’t believe the outlook was good for Boesch…

“I don’t think it’s very good, to be honest with you,” Leyland said. “I don’t want to paint a bleak picture, because I don’t know that it’s not. But I don’t think it’s too good. He had to come out of the game because of pain. That’s not too good.”

However after Thursday’s game, Leyland had a much better feeling with Boesch’s injury going forward…

“The thumb’s going to be there all year,” Leyland said. “You might as well make your mind up about it’s going to be there somewhat, but they’ll quiet everything else down and I think he’ll be OK.”

Boesch is officially listed as day-to-day but will not be available for the series opener against Minnesota on Friday.
