Is this a sign of good things to come from the Michigan football program?
According to Angelique S. Chengelis of the Detroit News, highly touted RB recruit Dee Hart has decided to commit to the University of Michigan over Alabama.
Hart announced his decision after gaining 267 yards and scoring four touchdowns in a 45-0 Dr. Phillips High victory over Boone on Friday night. His decision was first reported by the Orlando Sentinel as well as other media outlets including Rivals.com and Scout.com.
This news also comes after hearing earlier in the week that Hart was leaning towards Alabama, however recruiting analysts who follow Michigan insisted he was a heavy Michigan lean.
Hart who intends to enroll early at UM to participate in spring practice ultimately choose Michigan over Alabama because he feels that he fits into it’s spread offense more and he has a former teammate and friend Riccardo Miller currently playing WR for the Wolverines.
A native of Orlando Florida, Dee Hart is 5′,9”, weighs in at 185 pounds and has 4.4 speed with the ability to catch out of the backfield and return kicks. He is the No. 1 ranked all-purpose back by Rivals.com and is the nation’s No. 9-rated back by ESPN.com and Scout.com. He is the No. 37-ranked prospect overall, according to Rivals.com.
As of right now he has 836 yards and 16 touchdowns through five games.
This is obviously a huge commitment for Michigan who already have 10 commitments to the 2011 season prior to Hart. But with UM it isn’t so much getting the recruits it’s keeping them in Ann Arbor for their entire college career.
