In the season opener at Joe Louis Arena, the Red Wings took on the Ottawa Senators and won 5-3. After what seemed like a long preseason, the wings pulled off a win against a very good Ottawa offense.

The lone goal in the first came from Todd Bertuzzi. The second period had 3 total goals, all belonging to the home team. The first goal was scored by Nicklas Lidstrom, then came Cory Emmerton, and not even a minute later Jiri Hudler scored making extending the Red Wings lead to 4.

The third period had the most goals in the game, with a total of 4. After former Shark Ian White got Detroit’s fifth and last goal for three straight goals went passed Jimmy Howard giving every Detroit fan a quick scare. But in the end our boys pulled through.
