Guillen to begin rehab assignment with Class A Lakeland

Detroit Tigers infielder Carlos Guillen is scheduled to start a rehab assignment with Class A Lakeland on Monday, that could according to David Mayo of the Grand Rapids Press, have him back in the Tigers’ lineup sometime around the All-Star break.

Guillen has been on the 60-day disabled list after having microfracture surgery on his left knee.

It has been a tough road for Guillen this past year as he has his ups and downs trying to recover from the surgery on his knee. Official rehab assignments are limited to 20 days which Mayo believes Guillen could use most if not all of the days.

Guillen (35), is one of the highest paid Tigers making $13 million dollars this season. He however has not played in more than half of their games since the 2008 season.
