Gregg Williams called the Lions “weak-ass” and “phony-ass”

A pretty damning audio clip was released today by The United States of Football which highlights a defensive meeting conducted by former Saints defensive coordinator prior to last season’s playoff game against the 49ers.

Within the audio we hear Williams telling players to go after the heads of Niners players as well as going after ACL’s and ankles in the game.

Within the extended version of the clip (which is no longer available online) Williams also references the Lions referring to them as a “weak-ass” and “phony-ass” team. Also, according to ProFootballTalk.com, during the extended version of the clip you can also hear Williams handing out envelopes full of cash after their game against the Lions for big hits made during the matchup.

Lions head coach Jim Schwartz worked with Williams as a defensive assistant in Tennessee and mentioned that no bounty programs were in place during his time with Williams. Schwartz also mentioned that he hasn’t talked to Williams in some time.
