Gordon Beckham is heading north with the Tigers.
According to Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press, the Tigers have opted to add the veteran infielder to their 40-man roster meaning Beckham will likely be on Detroit’s opening day roster in a couple of weeks.
Despite what was thought to be a long shot for Beckham, his versatility and .279 batting average this spring may have made the organization’s decision a tad easier as things in Lakeland start to wind down. That and the fact that Ronny Rodriquez still has minor league options available while Beckham doesn’t. The veteran infielder according to Fenech also has a minor league opt-out meaning if the Tigers send him down they probably wouldn’t get him back.
