UPDATE: I’m sure steam is shooting out of Putin’s ears right now… HA!
Aside from the open manhole covers, yellow water, missing door handles and overall unfinished facilities in Sochi, probably the biggest problem surrounding these Winter Games is Russia’s – specifically Vladamir Putin’s – stance on LGBT rights or lack there of.
The protest throughout the country (despite the threat of being jailed) and the world continue but you can’t help but notice two potential protests against the Winter Olympic host.
First Germany with these rainbow themed uniforms for the opening ceremony…
Then you have Google with an already pretty clear header image to their website that not only displays on the English extension’s but the Russian one’s as well.
Then below Google adds the quote from the Olympic charter:
“The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.”
Well played Germany. Well played Google.
