Tampa Bay’s Steven Stamkos (who also leads the NHL in goals) suffered what looked to be a gruesome leg/ankle injury in a game against the Boston Bruins Monday afternoon. The injury occurred in the 2nd period when Stamkos crashed hard into the Boston net catching the lower part of his leg on the metal goal post.
He was eventually stretchered off the ice in obvious pain.
Hopefully the injury isn’t as worse than it looks but judging from the way the ankle looks to snap I wouldn’t expect him back on the ice anytime soon for the Lightning.
